A cautious ride

Karen Yue (2010-01-26)

INBOUND operators are monitoring the impact of the soon-to-open Universal Studios Singapore on existing attractions closely, as it may affect their earnings.

Existing attractions provide agents better margins and impose fewer restrictions. Any swing to Universal Studios may dent agents' income as the park has restrictions in place, including a prohibition on bulk ticket purchases on super-peak dates, such as the Labour Day holiday on May 1. The Daily has also learned the park will only allow on-site ticket purchases during its first month of operation and will stamp validity dates on tickets bought in bulk.
